Morgan Vineyards is named after Roger Morgan who in 1971 had the foresight to plant Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir on the gentle north facing slopes of this picturesque upper Yarra property. Later adding more Pinot Noir in 1989, Cabernet Sauvignon in 1991, then Merlot 1991 and lastly Chardonnay in 1993. Taking the vineyard to a total of 12 acres under vine.
Simon and Michele Gunther purchased Morgan Vineyards in 2009 and have completely renovated and rejuvenated the vineyard and property. Simon & Michele are dedicated to continuing their efforts to stamp Morgans Winery and Distillery at the top of the Yarra Valley’s quality producers. They invite you to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
The Meaning Of The Hare
The Hare symbol comes from Michèle’s maiden name which is French for “Hare”. Michèle’s father Joe was a commercial artist and he signed his name with this hare symbol. Joe, who was much loved, passed away in January 2018. We thought it would be a fitting tribute to use his signature hare as our logo.

The Vineyard sits on the gentle north facing slopes of this picturesque upper Yarra property. With 12 acres under vine, this renovated and rejuvenated vineyard produces a wide range of quality wine available online or from our cellar door.
the Distillery
In keeping with Morgan’s long-standing tradition, of hands on, old school methods, our gins and vodkas are distilled on site from fermented locally sourced whey and grapes from our own vineyard, which are then distilled on site, by us. We will soon be producing Brandy and Whisky – watch this space! Our gins and vodkas are available online or from our cellar door.

Stop by and indulge your senses by sampling our boutique wines. You would be hard pressed to find a better way to spend the afternoon than sitting and taking in picturesque views over the Warburton Valley in our very relaxed atmosphere, sampling our handcrafted wines matched with beautiful local and international gourmet cheeses.
