2014 Merlot

The initial sense that strikes one about this wine is its colour – a wonderfully rich, dense ruby red that looks like it is capable of even staining glass! Aside from this it really does assuage all of the senses – a glorious  bouquet of blackberries, plus a hint of wood-smoke perhaps, followed by a succulent palate of red berries and velvety tannins. Quite long, this wine, while showing some hints of future spicy fruit-cake development, is crisp and flavoursome right now – a perfect foil for full-flavoured cheeses – and its clean acidity will ensure many rewarding years of future complex development.
